Methuen Memorial Music Hall
In the spring of 2008, we will be doing a
planting at the Historic Methuen Memorial Music Hall. The Hall will
be featured on the Friends of the Nevins Memorial Library's 3rd
Annual Home & Garden Tour. The tour date is June 21, 2008, 10 AM - 4
PM Rain or Shine. Tickets will be available at the Nevins Memorial
Library.
First Church Congregational
In 2007, we refurbished the Gardens at the
Historic First Church Congregational which was featured on the Friends'
2nd Annual Home & Garden Tour. We also donated/planted a Weeping
Cherry Tree as a sincere 'Thank You' to the First Church
for use of a meeting location during our first 5 years of existence!
Searles Gardens Restoration
The MGC was invited to design and maintain the
perennial gardens surrounding Methuen’s historic Searles Building.
Ongoing maintenance of these gardens is done weekly throughout the
growing season by two member teams, culminating with a fall cleanup
gathering to put the gardens to bed.
Dewhirst Funeral Home Landscaping
The MGC designed several gardens surrounding the Dewhirst Funeral Home on Broadway in Methuen.
The materials were funded by
Dewhirst’s and acquired in several shopping trips to area nurseries.
Dewhirst will continue to be an additional planting project for 2006
YMCA
The Methuen Garden Club members, Teresa
Mosher and Linda Yuele volunteered and planted some flower beds for The
YMCA in Methuen with 79 of the YMCA children. Walmart and our garden club
donated the plants and tools for the children to plant. A landscaper
donated the mulch. Benches that were made for donations were
incorporated in the designs. We put one under each of the 3 trees on
the side and one on the entrance flower beds. One of the entrance
flower beds Linda dedicated and donated a tree to one of her neighbors (an
avid gardener who passed away). We also made a flower bed where
the sign is located. Additional annuals and perennials will be
added in 2006.
